The system sounds great, BUT I AM GETTING A INCH FOR A BIGGER HEAD UNIT!!!. Then he had installed a professional audio SET-UP BEHIND THE SET- with 2 cross overs, 2 amps, and a SUB - very nice system I am not a techie, but here is what i do know about my TRUCKġ) originally is HAD THE OEM B&O AUDIO SYSTEM, then the ORIGINA OWNER had a PROFESSIONAL SYSTEM INSTALL with the following components.ġst HE HAS THE ZESUS - system little BLUE/GREY BOX- which i believe its use to ALLOW AUDIO EQUIPEMTN TO WORK WITH FACTORY SYSTEM My truck is more complicated so looking for input!! I bought truck USED 2019 with a shit ton of UPGRADES. If so, that would be how I would do it, which would make it fine.Īre the rear doors loud? Are the front doors loud? By using the fade/balance function I can eliminate the fronts all together, the volume is still the same and does not get "loud" until the HU is at full volume. Can you take a picture of where your gains are set on the amp (the whole side of where the gains are on the amp would help!) Sorry for the picture quality, let me know if they don't turn out and I'll try to get something better when I get home tonight.Of course i am scared like shit to upgrade and then LOSE MY FACTORY STIRING WHEEL CONTROLS and CAMERAS!! My speakers in the grandpa truck were ok but this upgrade took it up in a notch Again, this wasnt a hard install we rate this job as a 1 nut out of 4 nuts. The aftermarket amp has RCA's coming from the pac to give it its signal? The amp then runs the speaker wire back to the factory amp area and ties into the speaker output (the speaker wires are cut at the factory amp and then connected to the aftermarket amp)? Is this how it is ran? I assume so but don't believe he removed the center console to get at the factory amp so not sure where exactly he spliced into the wiring. The only speaker that seems to be directly wired to the new amp is the sub, installer said that he only spliced into the stock wiring for the doors which did not eliminate the center and tweets. The 4 doors are then ran off of the focal amp as well as the sub.

I was surprised to still hear the center and pillar tweeters working. I was under the impression after speaking with the installer that these would no longer be used / powered by the new amp and only the 4 new door speakers would be hooked up. So you have the tweeters and center ran off of the factory HU power. The shop that did the install blew me off saying that I just have to let the speakers break in and that it would sound better in time but the lack of sound at lower than 1/2 volume tells me otherwise.Īppreciate any comments or thoughts as this is driving me nuts! I'm into this system for $3K so far and think I would have been better off with just a speaker upgrade. Should the 4 channels be wired independently of the stock amp or is it acceptable to splice into these wires? So I just picked up a new to me F250 but Im really not in love with the basic stereo system in this. I read somewhere that by keeping the factory sony amp in line and powering the "other" speakers you would effectively be robbing the 4 door speakers of power, is this correct? Stereo/NAV/CAM upgrade options 2016 F250 XLT. My concern is that I will cause damage to the new amp if I'm always running it at almost max volume. The pillar tweeters and center speaker in the dash are still working which made me draw that conclusion.Īt volumes less than 1/2 the music is barely audible, at 3/4 volume its comfortable to listen to and when I max out the volume its loud but not with the clarity/detail I was hoping for. Not a big deal but as a result I have lost considerable volume control at lower levels. Im looking to get one from here for my 2013. It currently has the 4' screen and I would like to know what kind of options I might have to upgrade to a larger screen. They spliced into the factory amp I'm assuming to negate running new speaker wires to the doors. I recently purchased a 2018 F150 XLT with the 3.5 Ecoboost. Picked up my truck and could not be more unhappy with the sound! I've never installed an amp before nor did I have any idea on how to run/splice the wiring so I decided to let the shop install these components. PAC audio AP4-FD21 Amp integration interface ( installed this myself) I thought if this upgrade sounded good than a new sub and amp should really enhance my music listening so went back to the shop I was dealing with and bought the following: Hello, I'm a noob when it comes to car audio so please forgive me if I come across as such.įinally decided to upgrade the door speakers in my Platinum and went with the Focal 5x7 Access, what a tremendous improvement in sound over the stock ones, did this myself as it was fairly straightforward.
